The one in my town is the outa sight riders and they are a cool group of guys. i have ridden with them a couple of times. i want to start one for a group of friends that want to do some community service with. i have been around harleys all my life so im not new to the scene. but i dont want to step on anyones toes. the outa sight riders are big on the sport bikes and my friends are more harley custom guys.
Talk to them it is two different types of clubs so why should they care but to do the thing your talking about you don’t need a Club just get some buddies together and do it. As soon as you slap a tag on someone they change and not in a good way. I rode with an MC for 10 years I am ret now and I am glad to be I come and go as i want and don’t have to follow all the rules that MC are tied to. I think mike has the best answer see if your state has a COC talk to them before doing any thing.

So ask the existing club if any problems with different type of riding club. Unless the existing club is claiming 1% patch and so are you- shouldn’t be a problem, as long as you’re not planning to steal their bikes or women. Some states have a easy nonprofit/educational/charitable LLC incorporation form available- give club legal existance and status in law. Helps with event organizing.

They are not a 1% club and are sport bike riders so there is really no need to approach them about it. However it would be the respectful thing to do. Also, you say there is no other club in your town. How about other parts of your state? You might want to check with the dominant club in the state. I’ll bet you have at least 1. Also, sounds like you want to start a "riding club" as opposed to a "Motorcycle club" It would be best if you wore a one piece patch and it did not display the letters MC. Folow those guidlines and you will avoid any hassels.

As long as you don’t try to start a three patch club, you are probably 100% fine. That doesn’t sound at all like what you have in mind though. I joined a cafe racer group a few years ago. I kind of drifted away from it after a few rides, but it was great fun while I was doing it. I think it sounds like a great idea.

If you are just starting a riding club, then no problem. If you call yourself a "motorcycle club" and particularly if you wear a 3-piece patch, then you have to get a formal approval from the dominant motorcycle club in your area. To fail to do so can mean big trouble. It’s a bunch of hard core biker stuff, but they take it very seriously.

A Riding club (or owners association) is a less formal way of enjoying the camaraderie of like-minded people. Whatever you decide to do, it’s a good idea to check in with the local Confederation of Clubs. CoC is often headed up by a member of whatever local dominant club acts as a sanctioning body.

10 yr with a club
It’s the M/C and the bottom rocker that’ll give you all the trouble. You can have a patch without these and shouldn’t get into too many hassles. Just make sure everyone understands that it’s a riding club and not an M/C. Some states you won’t have too many problems as an M/C, but if you ride into other states be prepaired to fight for your rags. I’m in a motorcycle club and haven’t run into trouble personally but I have club brothers that have. I’m always looking over my shoulder when I leave my state with my rags on.

It’s your life, your bike, go where you want too with our buddies it’s a free world so as long as you don’t upset any one just enjoy.
I’ve ridden all over the UK, Europe, New Zealand, Australia and found all makes and models of bike clubs with all ages of riders and gender.
At the end of the day your a biker/motorcyclist so just go and enjoy.

It’s a free country, so go ahead and start your own club. It’s also okay to invite other clubs to help with a toy drive or Christmas fund raiser. Just don’t bad mouth anyone and you should be fine. Try connecting through MeetUp.com or Yahoo! Groups. You may find there are ALREADY other motorcycle clubs in your area.

Sure, start your own club. Why not?
There are as many different clubs out there as there are types of riders.
You can even run your own club and ride with the other one if you wish or have some joint rides or events.
