I have an r1 and yes. 11 to 12k is perfect in 2nd gear. First on a liter bike is sketchy. It’ll come up but balance is a fifty fifty shot. But the back 50% is you looping. NO FUN. Main thing is practice practice practice. Once you feel like you got it, you don’t! Practice more.

This guy’s advice for 11K is not bad. YOu have to figure that as soon as you engage the clutch the RPM’s will fall 2-3K, so really you are only lauching the wheelie at 8K. If you don’t believe me go to a dead stop in 1st gear, hold the throttle at 3K and then drop the clutch. What happens?? You either stall the bike or it barely jumped at 1K Rpm into motion.

@sinner1945 +1 anyone can talk about how to do a wheelie, yet did he do one in the video? didn’t think so. just got my cage and bar on mine and hit the lot last week. i did slam once but i had my tire pressure too high. he didn’t mention anything about that in the vid. first tried on 20 psi rear and was too high still so dropped to 14. so much smoother… though i would say that the “learning slow wheelies” vid of the guy on the green bike did help me a bit on technique and body position etc.
